Me and doggy son Max as a baby, around 2002

February 22, 2026

Found out I’m a member of a “generation” I never heard of until recently: the Jones Generation! It’s a subset of Baby Boomers born between 1954 and 1965.Ooookay, I guess I see it. Did you know about that?

Been awhile since I posted, but I’ve been busy. A little change in plans: I decided to compile some of my essays into a collection for, hopefully, publication. So I’m working on my first memoir.

My goal is to have the book, a hybrid, finished by April and then submit to small and university presses. I also want to submit the essays individually to literary journals in hopes of placing some of them too. First I need to have it flow together in a narrative.

It’s about a precocious child who becomes a has-been by junior high. May sound depressing but it also involves pop culture and hints of humor. Trying to keep a light tone.

So the YouTube music channel is on hold for now.

I still have a couple of short stories out; it can take a long time to hear back on those. So far the journals I submitted to have turned them down.

Got on Instagram! Next: Create a YouTube channel for my music. Meanwhile: Continue writing, submitting, and posting.

Another eventful month. Submitted some flash fiction stories to literary journals, and have received so far the expected rejections. Got the idea for a novel and started work on it this month, usually National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) but that’s now defunct, so I signed up for an alternative. First time. We’ll see how it goes.

So far, I already got behind because I had a health event last week and that set me back for a few days. But I’m doing fine.

My first foray into Facebook back in July resulted in getting kicked off before I’d barely had time to do anything! So now I’m wary of even Instagram, also owned by Meta. I’ve taken the matter up with my state Attorney General’s office and we’ll see where it goes. May go ahead and try IG anyway but I’ve been waiting to hear from AG; I wouldn’t want to get kicked off it too. I don’t deserve that and it makes you feel like a criminal.

I’m also working on starting up a YouTube channel to do some piano covers. I bought a piano again! First time I’ve had one in some years, or even played. But I got inspired, so we’ll see where that goes too.

Have also been taking a religious studies course on religiondepartment.com, a site devoted to the academic study of religion. It was founded by Dr. Andrew Henry, a scholar with YouTube channel Religion for Breakfast. The course I’m taking is on the paranormal, but there are many offerings in a variety of fields.

This past month was an eventful one. The weekend I launched this website, I flew down to Georgia and within the coming week, lost my sister. Since returning, I’ve been actively sorting files and getting some pieces ready to submit to literary journals. Against all that is the backdrop of the workings of everyday life.

I’m considering installing a blog here. At the same time, I’m hesitant. What if I mess it up and can’t get it back like I want? Maybe I don’t want the pressure of having to post regularly?

Decisions, decisions. Like I said: the workings of everyday life.

Welcome to my new site! The purpose here is to showcase the work I’ve done in writing, art, and music, with a primary focus on creative writing; not the journalistic variety I’ve done the most.

As I hopefully get some more publication credits, they’ll appear in some form on the “Writing” page.

In the meantime, check out what’s already here. There’s a lot to see on the “Music” and “Art” pages, and a little currently on the “Writing” page. But hopefully that will grow.

Click “Subscribe” if you want to stay posted when I publish!

And if you see something wrong with the site, please, go easy! I did it all myself. Just let me know. This was hard.
